Essay question
Teenagers and young people should share housework equally with their parents. Do you agree?
Notes
Write about:
1. who has more time for housework
2. who does housework better
3. .......... (your own idea)
Should Teenagers share the housework with parents? Of course. It is unfaire to leave all the work to them as they spend all day working.
ResponderEliminarDespite adults seem to have more time to do the chores, the truth is they do not have it. They work every day and some of them stay longer because they must do overtime. For example, parents working in restaurants tend to do extra hours. Imagine cleaning all the house after a horrible service because it is summer and was crowded. You will not have enough energy for that whereas attending school it is not as demanding as working. Besides, the amount of homework teenagers have is insignificant, so they still have energy to help.
An excuse is spreading among teenagers to avoid helping. “Do it yourself since you are better than me”. Young people should learn to do things alone to be prepare for the future. In my opinion, cleaning is not boring if you listen to the radio, mp3 or turn the TV on. And if you do the chores with your parents, you can talk with them.
Summarizing, I believe family life would be more enjoyable if all members help with the housework.
KOKORO
ResponderEliminarKokoro is a new sushi bar which was opened not long ago in the shopping centre next to Barclays bank. I tried its food for the first time the same day of the opening, and I realised it was the best sushi I had ever eaten.
Although the place is small, it is cosy and it always looks clean. There are a few tables to eat in or you can just order take away food. Whatever you choose, the service is exceptional as they are kind, very friendly and cheerful people. Besides, the owner and most of the waiters are Japanese so everything is cooked and prepared to the Japanese style. Apart from having a wide variety of delicious freshly made sushi and sashimi, you can also find on the menu succulent seaweed salads, appetizing miso soups and noodles and heavenly Japanese curry.
I would highly recommend this bento bar as you are given great value for money and you can have a free soup or lunch with the loyalty card. In addition, I suggest that everyone try the curry which is my favourite dish.
UNIT 5
ResponderEliminarDespite it may be quite expensive, studying abroad for one year could be beneficial for young people as they would have the opportunity to build an excellent CV and mature.
Sending children to a foreign school in other country is the perfect way of making them gain important skills. Abilities such as speaking and writing in other language are nowadays extremely important. In fact, many job vacancies require bilingual people, or at least someone who is able to communicate properly in whatever language. Besides, after that year overseas they might have the possibility of choosing a good university anywhere which will boost their resume.
A further point is that living far from home will help them growing up. If parents are not around, young people learn faster to solve problems by themselves. They even acquire cooking skills so as not to rely in someone else and become open-minded because they are able to adapt to a different culture.
In conclusion, I believe it is really good for kids to study in a foreign country since it will make them less dependent on their parents and will open many doors in the work environment.
UNIT 6
ResponderEliminarHello Bob,
I’m glad to hear from you.
My first job was volunteering in an animal rescue. I was in charge of feeding, bathing and going for a walk with the dogs. I was also responsible of adoptions.
The animal sanctuary was in the outskirt of Mula, a small town not very far from Murcia. I used to spend my holidays there, so in the summer of 2013 I decided to help in the shelter. I thought it would be a great opportunity to assist animals in need and to improve my English as the owner was from England. He was running a charity shop in the town centre, so I went there to talk to him.
We agreed in that every time I wanted to go to the rescue centre I should call him first so that he could pick me up. However, when I phoned him he always answered the same way: “Sorry, I’m busy now” or “Sorry, I’m not around”.
Finally, as I wasn’t learning anything I gave up calling that strange man.
I hope this helps you. Good luck with your project.
See you soon,
Ana
